PEDESTRIAN STRUCK – WASHINGTON AVENUE, CHESTERTOWN

On Friday, December 22, 2017, at 6:35 pm, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, Kent & Queen Annes Rescue Squad and Kent County Emergency Medical Services was dispatched for a Pedestrian Struck by a Vehicle in the 500 block of Washington Avenue, near the intersection with Hadaway Drive. Callers reported the person was trapped under the car.

Several members of the Chestertown VFC were in the immediate area when this incident was dispatched and reported directly to the scene. Assisted by civilians, they were able to extricate the patient from under the car prior to the arrival of emergency equipment. The patient was found to be critically injured and was not breathing. Lifesaving efforts were undertaken at the scene. The patient was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland, Shore Medical System at Chestertown. Tragically, the patient did not survive.

Equipment from the Chestertown VFC remained on the scene until 10:45 pm, in order to provide lighting for the accident investigation. For more information about this incident, please contact the Chestertown Police Department.
