At approximately 4:23 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for the Electrical Hazard on (Broad Neck Road) Maryland 446, the cross street was Langford Road. The incident was actually located approximately 1-1/2 miles below the Langford Crossroads, just prior to the very sharp curve.

Upon arrival, crews found high winds had snapped two utility poles. Part of the poles, with wires still attached, fell into the traveled portion of the roadway. Unfortunately, there was an occupied school bus in the immediate vicinity when this happened. There was no collision between the bus and the pole & wires. The bus driver was able to bring the vehicle to a safe, controlled stop. No one on the bus was injured, but they were stranded until the obstacles could be removed.
