HOUSE FIRE WITH RESCUE
03/21/2007 1008 HRS.  Kent dispatched Fire Box 60-10 for a house fire w/ rescue @ 24581 Willow Oak Ln. off Johnsontown Rd. (QUAKER NECK) Command 6-1 responded w/ Deputy Chief 6 (NEAL). He was first to arrive to find a single story wood frame residence w/ heavy fire through the roof. The caller couldn't advise if the resident was home or not. Engine 6-7 w/5 was directed to lay in and pull the 2 1/2 & 1 3/4 crosslays. Rescue Pumper 4 was next to arrive picking up the supply from E 6-7. Tanker 6, Tanker 4 & Tanker 7 shuttled water from the town limits of the city. Units worked together to perform primary and secondary searches of the residence. The searches came up negative. This is always good, and today was even better because after a couple of bottles we asked PEE WEE "what's up" and he said his family may be inside, so he was calling around. Even though searches were negative, the Chief said do it again until we are positive they aren't in there. EVERYONE - A JOB WELL DONE FROM THE CHESTERTOWN VOLUNTEERS. Units on scene: Command 6-1, Engine 6-7, Tanker 6, Rescue 6, Rescue Pumper 4, Tanker 4, Engine 7-2, Tanker 7, QA Rescue 7,Engine 5-3, Engine 3, Ambulance 8, Ambulance 8-1, Paramedic 1-7, FM68 & Red Cross.  Thanks to Church Hill (E51) for the transfer.

HOUSE FIRE WITH RESCUE - 327 FAIRVIEW DR.
03/09/07 Units were dispatched to the QA 5-12 box to a reported house fire. Chief 6 (Joyner) responded and arrived at 17:12 to find a single story wood frame dwelling with smoke showing. Chief Joyner approached the residence to find the elderly resident still inside unable to leave due to a physical disablement. Due to an MVC in the QA 5-6 box involving a power pole there was a power surge in the area making the furnace back fire which disconnected the flue to the chimney emitting smoke into the dwelling. Chief Joyner with the assist of the crew from Engine 64 removed the resident and investigated the problem. After finding the problem, turning off the furnace, and smoke removal units were placed available. Company 6, QA 5, QA 7, and K&QA Rescue Squad A-8 worked for 42 minutes.
