FUN FILLED NIGHT IN QUARTERS
11/02/07 - With it finally beginning to feel like fall around here again, the Chief decided it was time to start up another season of engine room wiffle ball. Just as members and their families were arriving at the station, Local Box 5-12 was struck for an AFA at the Eastern Shore Animal Hospital. Engine 67 responded with a crew of 4 within seconds of the station being alerted. Engine 67 arrived approx. 2 minutes later and investigated the alarm.

A short while later, while promoting inter-company relations (w/ QA Chief 5) QA Rescue Box 5-9 was struck for the MVA at Church Hill Rd and Rolphs Wharf Rd, with the River City Volunteers being alerted for the Rescue. Engine 67 added itself to the call and arrived just behind Chief 5 to find a 4 vehicle accident. Crews assisted with pt. care, securing hazards, and scene lighting. The Rescue responded within a minute of dispatch with a crew of 6 and assisted with fluid and debris cleanup. Fire Police from Station 6 assisted PD with traffic control as Rt. 213 was completely closed to traffic for approx. 1 hour.

Once everybody returned to quarters, teams were drawn up, and a fun filled evening of wiffle ball commenced.
Unfortunately the game was cut short due to another call. This time it was for an AFA at the new Kent Center facility 215 Scheeler Rd. The Engine, Tower and Chief hit the street all within a minute, arriving to find a malfunctioning alarm. Crews returned just in time to put all the equipment away, spend some time socializing, and then take all the sleepy kids (and parents) home to bed.

While all this was going on, the Auxiliary was holding a Vera Bradley Bingo fundraiser.
The calls this evening brought our yearly total to 523 alarms for the year. With just shy of 2 months to go, we are on a pace to approach, or break the 600 call mark by the end of the year.
