AFA UPGRADED TO DWELLING FIRE
10/25/07  1235 - Local Box 60-1 was dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm @ 200 North Mill Street off Calvert Street. Engine 6-8 W/4 hit the street within seconds of the dispatch. 6-8 arrived to find a three (3) story wood frame dwelling with nothing evident. F/F Russum established Mill Street Command. The crew investigated the exterior of the dwelling with nothing visible awaiting the responder. After the responder arrived the Engine investigated the interior of the dwelling finding smoke on #2 and #3 floors. Command then requested an upgrade to smoke in the dwelling bringing Tower 6 W/3, Rescue 6 W/2, Rescue Pumper 4 W/4, QA Engine 51 W/4, QA Rescue 7 W/4, Ambulance 8 & Paramedic 1-1.Command was then passed to Chief 6 (Joyner). After further investigation the smoke was a result of the State conducting Smoke Testing of the Sewer System in town. The box then was reduced to Engine 6-8 canceling the rest. Engine 6-8 operated for 53 minutes before returning to quarters.
 

 
NATURAL COVER FIRE
10/22/07  1244 - Local Box 60-10 was dispatched alerting Station 6 & Station 7 for a natural cover fire in the area of 6323 Quaker Neck Rd. Brush 6, Command 6-1 & Tanker 6 hit the street on dispatch do to the crew out on a public service w/ the Tower. Brush 7 & Engine 7-3 responded also on the call. Command 6-1 w/ CHIEF Joyner was approaching the scene with a large column of smoke showing requesting a full Company response. Minutes later Command 6-1 arrived finding that he had approx. 2 acres of Soybean stubble burning & establishing Quaker Neck Command holding the response to Station 6 Units and Brush 7. Units operated for 1 hour 10 minutes w/ 8 volunteers.
 

 
SMOKE INVESTIGATION
10/18/07  1831 - Local Box 60-1 was dispatched for a smoke investigation @ 603 Cannon St. Command 6-1 w/ Deputy Chief Neal was the first to arrive and establish Cannon St Command. Engine 6-8 W/5 & Engine 6-7 W/3 hit the street minutes after Command 6-1. After the crews investigated the house they found that the smoke was a result of a chimney fire. Units checked for extension will a negative result. The box was then placed under control holding the Engine Co.. The fire was caused by the home owner trying to burn his chimney clean.
