Dwelling Fire - S. Main Street, Rock Hall

Sunday, June 22, 2025
On Saturday, June 21, just prior to 5:00 AM, Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched along with mutual aid departments for a reported structure fire on South Main Street in Rock Hall.
First-arriving units from Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company encountered smoke showing from both the first and second floors of a two-story single-family dwelling. A Working Fire Dispatch was quickly requested to bring in additional resources.
Tower 6, Tanker 6, and Engine 4 arrived simultaneously. The crew from Tower 6 deployed a 1¾” handline from Tanker 6, while Engine 4 secured a nearby hydrant and advanced a second handline into the structure.
Interior crews quickly located the seat of the fire on the first floor under the stairwell. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all departments, the fire was contained to the first floor and prevented from extending further.
Chestertown units operated on scene for just over two hours. The Maryland State Fire Marshal and American Red Cross were also requested to assist.
A special thank you to Millington and Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Companies for providing coverage in our district during the incident.
