Structure Fire, Kennedy Drive - Chestertown

Wednesday, December 17, 2025
On Sunday, December 14, 2025, 6:26 am... during a pretty good snowfall event, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with multiple mutual aid companies, was dispatched to the Structure Fire in the 100 block of Kennedy Drive, Washington Park, Chestertown. The 9-1-1 caller was reporting a tree had toppled, pulling electrical wires from the house. They could smell an odor of burning, which prompted the structure fire response. Caller was also reporting two elderly occupants, unable to evacuate.
First arriving found a fallen tree, likely because of a heavy wet snow, which had pulled the electrical wires off the home. Our Squad 6 arrived and investigated. Advised occupants were out of the house. The structure was experiencing an issue with power surges. Delmarva Power was notified, responding with a 25-minute E.T.A. Command held the box alarm assignment to just Chestertown VFC.
