Just after 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with numerous mutual aid companies, was dispatched for a structure fire in the 8800 block of Center Lane in the unincorporated community of Fairlee.
As Kent County Dispatch was preparing to alert the assignment, Chief 8, who was in the area, reported a working fire and requested the Working Fire Dispatch be added to the initial response. Chief 8 then advised that a detached two-car garage was fully involved, with fire extending to a fifth-wheel camper and a boat nearby.
Engine 68 arrived on the scene and positioned in a driveway off Fairlee Road. Crews deployed two pre-connected attack lines. One line was used to protect a nearby garage that was threatened by the fire, while the second line was used to extinguish the fire involving the camper and boat.
Queen Anne’s Squad 5 arrived shortly thereafter, established its own water supply on Center Lane, and deployed an attack line to assist with suppression efforts.
Additional responding companies assisted with fire suppression, overhaul operations, and extinguishment of remaining hot spots.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office and the local power company were requested to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
Chestertown units cleared the scene at approximately 3:38 p.m.
