On Friday, September 25, 2026, at approximately 15:14 hours, the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company, along with mutual aid companies, was dispatched for a building fire in the 10200 block of Fairlee Road, near the intersection of Fairlee Road and Handy Point Road.
While responding, units were advised that the property owner had called 9-1-1 after seeing their equipment shed on fire through security cameras.
Chief 8 arrived and reported smoke showing. Shortly afterward, Deputy Chief 6 arrived and reported fire showing from a small shed.
Squad 6 arrived and deployed a 1¾-inch pre-connected attack line to begin extinguishment. Additional mutual aid companies arrived and assisted with overhaul before being released from the scene.
No injuries were reported to civilians or fire department personnel.
Chestertown crews operated on scene for just over an hour before clearing.
This was the second fire for Chestertown crews today, following an earlier dwelling fire in Queen Anne’s County.
While our crews were committed to the incident, the Crumpton Volunteer Fire Company provided an engine to stand by in Chestertown, ensuring that any additional emergency calls received during the incident could still be answered.
Notification was made to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
