On Sunday, October 4, 2026, members and families of the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company gathered at the firehouse for our annual Company Picnic.

The picnic is an opportunity for our current, former, and prospective members, along with their families, to come together and enjoy a day away from the calls, training, and day-to-day responsibilities that come with being part of a volunteer fire company. It is also a chance to recognize and appreciate the people who help make our Company what it is.

This year, well over 100 members, family members, and friends joined us for an afternoon filled with good food, fellowship, games, and plenty of time to catch up with one another. It was great to see members from all areas of the Company come together, including those who have been serving for decades and those who are just beginning their journey with us.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Community Fire Company of Millington for providing an Engine and crew to stand by at our station during the picnic. Their support allowed our members to enjoy the afternoon with their families while knowing that our community remained covered should an emergency occur.

For those who have been around the Company for a while, you may remember that our annual picnic has developed a bit of an unfortunate tradition of coinciding with fires in the area. Most recently, in 2024, our picnic was interrupted when the Dollar General in Worton caught fire.

Thankfully, this year's picnic came and went without a repeat of that tradition!

We are grateful for everyone who came out and helped make this year's picnic a great one. Events like this are a reminder that the Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company is more than just the people who answer the calls, it is a family made up of members, past and present, and the families who support them.
